The name Heliotrope comes from the Greek words Helios (sun) and Tropos (turn), meaning "the plant that follows the sun," much like a sunflower.
It is said that white heliotrope releases an intoxicating fragrance reminiscent of Guadeloupe.
A revolutionary olfactory discovery: Héliotrope Blanc, created in 1885, was one of the first colognes to incorporate the heliotropin molecule.
A global success: This iconic fragrance quickly captivated the Caribbean, becoming a perfumery essential.
Nicknamed the "plant that follows the light," heliotrope is believed to bring luck to those who wear it.

The Scent’s Story

In 1869, German chemists discovered heliotropin, a molecule reminiscent of the sweet, powdery scent of heliotrope flowers. In 1565, Alphonse Piver and his son Lucien ingeniously incorporated it into a creation with round, vanilla-infused, and enveloping notes. Thus, Héliotrope Blanc, the archetype of powdery fragrances, was born.

This legendary perfume has transcended time and continents, reaching the Caribbean islands, where its story still lingers today.

In my early days, so sweet,
Harmony made my fame complete.
Its gentle song, my life did guide,
A joy I carried deep inside.

To troubadours I gave my grace,
Red blossoms offered in their place.
For love’s own bards, in nightly hours,
I crowned their songs with fragrant flowers.

Fair maidens, may your hands always
Unite the garden’s floral praise,
With verses blooming bright and free—
The flower of poetry.
