Holiday Gift Ideas: The Art of Passing on the L.T. Piver Heritage

The holidays are approaching, and with them the question of which gift will truly delight. This year, give a fragrance or a skincare treat that tells a story: that of the House of L.T. Piver and two centuries of olfactory savoir-faire. Here are our favourite ideas, ready to slip under the tree.

For travellers: our 40 ml fragrances and the scented handkerchief

The Nohiba Extrait, the quintessence of perfume

More intense than an eau de parfum, an extrait is 30% concentrated: a few touches are enough for a deep trail that lasts all day. Born in 1868 under the aegis of Alphonse Piver, Nohiba is one of those formulas the House has jealously guarded. Cinnamon and mandarin open onto a heart of rose, olibanum and leather, before a warm base of vanilla, amber and papyrus. A unisex, enveloping fragrance, perfect for winter evenings.

Our Eaux de Parfum, seven stories to give

Born from the House’s handwritten formulas and revisited with respect for their original composition, our Eaux de Parfum invite you on a journey through time:

À la Reine des Fleurs, the scent of origins. Born in 1774, it bears the name of the House’s very first boutique. Verbena and petitgrain open onto an aromatic heart of lavender, rosemary and thyme, resting on a base of musk and ambrox. A fresh, clean, luminous fragrance for those who love crisp scents full of lightness.

Eau des Princes, noble freshness. Created in 1850, it is one of the earliest eaux de Cologne in history. Legend even has it that Napoleon scented his handkerchiefs with it. Lemon, bergamot and red apple burst out in the top notes, before a heart of mint, sage and rosemary, on a woody base of ambrox and cashmeran. A tonic, elegant trail, ideal for lovers of refined freshness.

Un Parfum d’Aventure, a journey in a bottle. Launched in 1863 under the Second Empire, it pays tribute to the House’s openness to the world. Pink pepper and bergamot set off, followed by a spicy heart of clove, nutmeg and cinnamon, down to a base of cedar, sandalwood and vetiver. The dream gift for curious minds and great travellers.

Héliotrope Blanc, powdery softness. Composed in the 19th century by Alphonse Piver and his son Lucien, it is considered the archetype of powdery fragrances. Heliotrope reveals its almond facets, wrapped in vanilla and tonka bean, with a touch of cherry. A tender, comforting fragrance, like an embrace.

Rêve d’Or, opulent radiance. Born in 1889, at the height of the vogue for Orientalism, it is one of the very first aldehydic perfumes, which give it its sparkling radiance. Bergamot, raspberry and blackcurrant blend with pink pepper and saffron, before a base of cedar and musk. A luminous fragrance, perfect for shining throughout the holidays.

Cuir de Russie, character. It evokes the legendary leather of horsemen’s boots, once treated with birch bark. Bergamot, mandarin and cardamom open onto a heart of lavender, clove, nutmeg and cumin, before an intense base of leather, patchouli and cedar. For those who love bold fragrances.

Pompeïa, ancient elegance. Created in 1907 and inspired by the refined women of ancient Rome, this floral chypre opens with citrus, lavender and geranium. Its heart of iris, rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang rests on a deep base of patchouli, mosses and woods. A timeless, sensual classic.

Its special touch: each bottle comes with a complimentary scenting handkerchief. A gesture inherited from the 18th-century court, where people perfumed their handkerchiefs to carry their trail with them.

The art of the scented handkerchief

Before the atomiser, perfume was worn differently: tucked into a pocket, folded into a sleeve, held in the hand rather than applied to the body. For centuries, the scented handkerchief was among the most refined gestures in Western perfumery.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, perfuming one’s skin directly could seem too heavy-handed in certain circles. A scented fabric was preferred instead, gloves, a fan or a handkerchief, brought to the face at will without imposing one’s trail on an entire room.

The handkerchief offered a precious advantage: you took it out, breathed it in for a moment, then put it away. You chose both the moment and the intensity of your fragrance.

A gesture rooted in the history of L.T. Piver

This tradition has belonged to the House since its beginnings. In 1774, Michel Adam was a glover-perfumer: his craft was to perfume accessories made of fabric or leather. His first creation, the Eau Vestimentale, was designed for clothing and accessories, not for the skin.

The scented handkerchief belongs to this same family of gestures: a fabric that is perfumed, a fragrance brought to the face rather than left to spread. By offering it with every 40 ml bottle, L.T. Piver reconnects with what gave it life.

A gesture from the past, a very modern idea

Keeping control of your own trail: the idea is surprisingly close to today’s habits, such as layering or targeted application of fragrance. So why not bring this gesture back into fashion?

Once scented, the handkerchief folds into a pocket and can be breathed in at any moment of the day:

  • at the office, for a fragrant break between two meetings;
  • while travelling, to find a little piece of home;
  • on a stroll, to extend the pleasure in the open air.

A gift that is both refined and full of charm, to share the elegance of French perfumery with those you love.

For a ritual of softness: our body milks

Giving a scented body milk means giving a moment just for oneself. Every day, the skin is moisturised and delicately wrapped in fragrance. Four signatures, four personalities.

Lait d’Iris, an icon reinvented

As early as the 19th century, L.T. Piver took an interest in iris rhizomes, renowned for their toning properties. After an in-depth study, he succeeded in extracting a precious aromatic milk, concentrating all the virtues of iris without any irritating element.

This patented innovation earned him the highest distinctions at the Universal Exhibitions in Paris and London, as well as the approval of the hygienist doctors of the time. Today, the House reinvents this iconic milk for the softness of the skin. The perfect gift for lovers of history and beautiful things.

Lait à la Fleur d’Oranger, a luminous garden

A radiant bouquet of white flowers, between zesty freshness and honeyed sweetness. Its luminous, enveloping signature evokes a warm breeze in the heart of a garden in bloom. To give to those who dream of sunshine in the middle of winter.

Lait à la Figue, a sun-kissed treat

A juicy, milky fig with green, creamy accents. This sunny, almost addictive fragrance recalls the warmth of skin golden from summer. Ideal for lovers of gourmand, comforting scents.

Lait à la Rose, a powdery caress

A luminous, velvety rose, fresh and delicately powdery. It leaves a tender, infinitely feminine trail on the skin, soft as a petal. For romantics, quite simply.

Discovery gifts: the Trio de Laits Gift Set and the Bibliothèque Olfactive

Can’t decide between several scents? The Trio de Laits Gift Set settles the question with elegance. It brings together three of the House’s scented body milks, in a 20 ml format each:

  • Lait d’Iris, to tone the skin;
  • Lait à la Fleur d’Oranger, a bouquet of white flowers between zesty freshness and honeyed sweetness;
  • Lait à la Figue, sunny, milky and comforting.

Light and practical, these little bottles easily find their place in a travel bag or toiletry kit. They moisturise and scent the skin at any time, on weekends as on holidays.

It’s the ideal set to discover our body milks, or to give a little of L.T. Piver’s olfactory savoir-faire to take everywhere.

The Olfactive Library, seven fragrances to explore

For those who like to take their time choosing, the Bibliothèque Olfactive (Olfactory Library) brings together the House’s seven Eaux de Parfum in 2 ml spray vials, each in its own little case, all arranged in a rigid gift box.

From the freshness of Eau des Princes to the powdery softness of Héliotrope Blanc, by way of the spices of Un Parfum d’Aventure or the character of Cuir de Russie, it is a true journey through more than two centuries of French perfumery.

The ideal gift for enthusiasts and the curious alike: you test, you compare, you take your time to find your fragrance. And once the favourite is found, the 40 ml bottle and its scenting handkerchief are just waiting for it.
